Outdoor School

KS2 October 2019


Key stage 2 worked in groups, each group had a different focus. The first group focussed on cooking and fire safety, the second group completed the Archimedes screw challenge and the third carried out a hibernation challenge. 


The Learning objectives were:

Group 1

To produce a spark using a flint and steel,

To understand all aspects of fire safety including the fire triangle.

To cook ash bread on a camp fire (in connection with harvest time) 

Group 2

To be able to transport water around the woods using a method the Egyptians created called the Archimedes Screw.

Group 3 

To build a nest for a dormouse using natural materials as insulators with the challenge - Who can keep their dormouse warm for a long as possible ?
